Deck overview

This deck is a focused Orzhov Aristocrats and Attrition engine commanded by Carmen, Cruel Skymarcher. The strategy revolves around generating continuous sacrifice triggers through edict effects, self-sacrificing utility creatures, and Treasure generation. Every sacrifice swells Carmen with +1/+1 counters and provides life buffers. Once operational, Carmen's attack trigger turns your graveyard into a toolbox, continually returning utility pieces like Plaguecrafter, protection creatures, or resource engines directly to play. Opponents are kept low on resources through recurring forced sacrifices and asymmetric board wipes such as Tragic Arrogance and Cataclysmic Gearhulk. The deck wins either by dealing lethal flying commander damage with an enormous Carmen or by grinding the table down with drain effects like Bastion of Remembrance and Kambal, Profiteering Mayor. While it possesses exceptional resilience against conventional targeted removal through cheap sacrifice-protection creatures, its clock is deliberate and combat-dependent, giving opponents several turns to formulate answers.
