Deck overview

This Golgari Voltron deck leverages Skullbriar, the Walking Grave as a snowballing combat threat. Skullbriar's unique ability allows it to retain counters across death, exile, and the command zone, significantly reducing the tempo loss of standard removal. An aggressively low mana curve ensures Skullbriar enters on Turn 1 or 2 with haste to begin accumulating +1/+1 counters immediately. The deck accelerates this growth through counter multipliers like Branching Evolution and Corpsejack Menace, alongside powerful keyword counters such as indestructible from Daring Fiendbonder and trample from Titanoth Rex via Entomb. An extensive suite of 1-mana instant-speed protection spells (Tamiyo's Safekeeping, Tyvar's Stand, Gaea's Gift) shields Skullbriar from bounce, exile, and destruction. Once Skullbriar reaches lethal power, it eliminates opponents sequentially through combat or drains the table using Rite of Consumption and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.
