Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis combat-oriented spellslinger build helmed by Fire Lord Azula. It aims to leverage combat attack triggers and the Firebending mechanic to generate temporary red mana and double spells cast while attacking. In the early turns, the deck develops its mana base using mana rocks and low-curve utility creatures. On Turn 4, Azula enters the battlefield, preparing to attack on Turn 5 to activate her spell-duplication engine. In the mid-game, the deck accelerates into high-impact threats like Avatar Roku, Firebender and Ozai, the Phoenix King, generating massive bursts of combat mana. This surplus fuel empowers copied combat tricks like Overwhelming Victory or fuels large post-combat mana sinks such as Torment of Hailfire. Free and low-cost interaction like Deflecting Swat and Deadly Rollick shields key creatures from single-target removal, while Blasphemous Act and Lessons keep opposing boards clear as the deck systematically eliminates opponents over successive combat turns.
