Deck overview

This Abzan deck uses Ghave, Guru of Spores to bridge +1/+1 counters, token generation, and aristocrat drain engines. In the opening turns, dense 1- and 2-mana ramp develops mana velocity to deploy Ghave by Turn 4 or 5. Once assembled, Ghave acts as a versatile modular engine, turning mana into tokens and tokens into counters. The primary route to victory involves assembling a three-card infinite combo combining Ghave, a sacrifice mana generator like Ashnod's Altar or Pitiless Plunderer, and a counter modifier like Hardened Scales or Conclave Mentor. This produces infinite mana, infinite tokens, and infinite death triggers to drain the table through Mirkwood Bats or Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim. If Ghave is removed, independent token engines like Tendershoot Dryad, Verdant Kraken, and Thalisse, Reverent Medium provide a resilient wide-board beatdown and attrition backup plan.
