Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu combat and cost-cheating strategy commanded by Kaalia of the Vast. The primary objective is to cast Kaalia on curve and immediately swing into an open opponent to cheat enormous, game-warping Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Utvara Hellkite, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Ancient Gold Dragon quickly outscale the table in pure power and flying evasion. Backup cheat engines such as Sneak Attack, Thran Temporal Gateway, and reanimation spells like Animate Dead provide resilience when Kaalia is targeted. The deck leverages high-impact single-target removal, board wipes, and free commander-protection spells to maintain tempo. While it lacks built-in haste and operates on a fragile commander-centric axis vulnerable to well-timed creature removal, an uninterrupted attack sequence closes out the entire table across two combat cycles through sheer aerial combat dominance.
