Deck overview

Sergeant John Benton commands a hyper-focused Selesnya Voltron aggro deck designed to convert combat damage into overwhelming card advantage. By leveraging Benton's native trample, haste, and symmetrical card-draw trigger, the deck deploys its commander on Turn 3 and immediately begins attacking. Because the deck is packed with cheap, high-yield pump spells like Invigorate, Might of the Nephilim, and Become Immense, a single unblocked swing rapidly scales into a 21-commander-damage lethal strike on Turn 4, drawing dozens of cards in the process. This massive influx of resources supplies a dense suite of 1-mana protection spells such as Blacksmith's Skill and Blossoming Defense, allowing the deck to shield Benton from spot removal while dismantling the remaining opponents across Turns 5 and 6. Although giving opponents cards and relying entirely on the commander represent notable vulnerabilities, the sheer velocity and redundancy of its pump-and-protect engine make it a fast, explosive combat threat.
