Deck overview

This Golgari Voltron deck leverages Wilson, Refined Grizzly paired with Agent of the Shadow Thieves to execute a fast, resilient combat clock. Wilson enters the battlefield with an exceptional suite of innate keywords: uncounterable, vigilance, reach, trample, and ward {2}. When paired with Agent of the Shadow Thieves, Wilson attacks as an indestructible, deathtouch threat that grows with +1/+1 counters on each combat step. The deck accelerates into play with dense 1-mana ramp, expands Wilson's power rapidly with counter doublers and equipment, and draws massive hands through power-based draw spells like Hunter's Insight and Rishkar's Expertise. Because Wilson represents the primary win condition, the list runs an extensive array of 1-mana instant protection spells that exploit ward {2} to make targeting Wilson unprofitable. Opponents must withstand lethal commander damage starting as early as Turn 5.
