Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats and attrition deck seeks to grind down opponents by converting creature deaths into card advantage, board control, and life drain. Built around classic sacrifice outlets, recursive creatures, and death-trigger payoffs, the deck steadily establishes control through edict effects and Grave Pact before closing with lethal drain loops or big mana sorceries. While its commander, Avacyn, Angel of Horror, offers an overwhelming late-game recursive engine, the deck operates with complete independence from the command zone, relying on efficient low-curve engines in the 99. Its main strengths lie in resilient card draw, board suppression, and multi-angle creature recursion that shrugs off standard board wipes. Its primary limitations stem from mono-black's inherent blind spots: a near-total inability to interact with the stack, minimal answers to noncreature artifacts and enchantments, and the absence of efficient tutors to assemble fast, compact finishes.
