Kess, Dissident Mage (Copy)

Format: Commander

Commander: Kess, Dissident Mage

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Kess, Dissident Mage leads a Grixis value-control deck that wins by making every instant and sorcery worth multiple uses. Kess rebuys draw, removal, and theft spells while Firemind's Research, Rionya, and Black Waltz No. 3 turn spell casts into damage or token copies. Secondary paths are powerful legendary creatures like Etali, Jin-Gitaxias, and Niv-Mizzet, plus mass reanimation through Breach the Multiverse. The deck has no compact combo and no dedicated finisher; instead, it outlasts opponents with card advantage, steals their resources, and closes through repeated combat with copied Etali triggers. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built firmly around Kess's spell recursion and the Etali/Rionya payoff pair.
