Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Mono-Black Reanimator Combo deck centered around Balthor the Defiled. The primary game plan focuses on rapidly filling the graveyard with high-impact black creatures using efficient tutors such as Entomb and Buried Alive, as well as heavy self-mill pieces like Morality Shift and Doom Whisperer. Once the graveyard is stocked with key combo pieces, the deck uses fast mana rituals and big-mana lands like Cabal Coffers and Lake of the Dead to cast and activate Balthor the Defiled. When Balthor's ability resolves, it returns all black creatures to the battlefield simultaneously. This triggers an immediate, lethal burst of drain through Gray Merchant of Asphodel doubled by Bloodletter of Aclazotz and supported by Ayara, First of Locthwain and Syr Konrad, the Grim. Backup mass reanimation spells and powerful individual reanimation targets ensure the deck remains dangerous and resilient even through removal.
