Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black spellslinger control strategy that weaponizes opposing creature deaths through Toshiro Umezawa. It maintains tight control over the board using a high density of efficient instant-speed removal spells, edicts, and graveyard interaction. Each dead creature triggers Toshiro, allowing instant spells to be recast from the graveyard for immense card and mana efficiency. The deck accelerates into big mana engines with Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, while drawing heavily via Necropotence and Morbid Opportunist. It closes games decisively through compact combos, primarily Professor Onyx paired with Chain of Smog, or by assembling Bolas's Citadel with Sensei's Divining Top and Aetherflux Reservoir, or resolving a massive Torment of Hailfire.
