Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Jund combat and fight-control list commanded by Maarika, Brutal Gladiator. It accelerates out Maarika ahead of curve using efficient mana dorks and ramp spells. Because Maarika must be blocked and gains indestructible on your turn, she excels at clearing opposing blockers and triggering her excess damage ability to force opponents to sacrifice valuable noncreature, nonland permanents. The deck amplifies this game plan with a high density of one-mana and two-mana fight and bite spells like Bushwhack, Tail Swipe, and Prey Upon, which function as both creature removal and permanent destruction engines. To close out games, the deck utilizes damage multipliers, trample enablers, and extra combat phases—most notably Xenagos, God of Revels, Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar, Berserk, and Chandra's Ignition—to eliminate opponents in rapid succession while keeping the board clear.
