Deck overview

This deck is a aggressive mono-red Treasure engine commanded by Smaug the Magnificent. It accelerates mana in the first three turns through low-cost equipment, token generators, and cost reducers before casting Smaug on Turn 4. Because Smaug enters with haste and flying, it applies immediate pressure, converting hoarded Treasures into direct damage upon attacking while generating free Treasures on upkeep. Midgame plays amplify this pressure by stacking damage multipliers, extra combat phases, and passive artifact-entry burn from permanents like Ingenious Artillerist and Reckless Fireweaver. The deck protects its commander using efficient single-target redirection spells such as Bolt Bend and Return the Favor. While highly resilient against spot removal due to Smaug's haste and easy Treasure-fueled recasts, the deck remains vulnerable to mass artifact sweepers and relies on combat steps and cumulative burn rather than infinite combos to close games by Turn 7.
