Deck overview

This Kaalia of the Vast deck is an aggressive Mardu creature-cheat strategy reinforced by proactive stax and premium protection. The primary game plan accelerates Kaalia into play by Turn 3 using fast mana artifacts and Dark Ritual, before declaring an attack on Turn 4 to cheat massive Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Master of Cruelties offer instant single-target eliminations, while Archfiend of Despair, Aurelia, the Warleader, and Avacyn, Angel of Hope establish commanding board states. To ensure Kaalia connects safely, the deck surrounds her with top-tier protection pieces like Grand Abolisher, Silence, Deflecting Swat, and Lightning Greaves. Disruptive hatebears such as Drannith Magistrate, Deafening Silence, and Opposition Agent slow faster combo decks to Kaalia's combat timing. While the deck relies heavily on Kaalia surviving to cheat high-CMC spells from hand, its density of tutors, reanimation backups, and asymmetric lock pieces makes it a lethal threat.
