Deck overview

This Mardu Angel, Demon, and Dragon tribal deck is helmed by Kaalia of the Vast, a three-mana flyer who cheats massive creatures directly into combat on attack. The plan is to protect Kaalia, connect with an opponent, and deploy a cascade of hasty threats like Aurelia, the Warleader, Balefire Dragon, or Avacyn, Angel of Hope for overwhelming combat advantage. The deck leans heavily on the commander's ability to bypass mana costs, so every piece of ramp, protection, and tutor is aimed at getting Kaalia through. Secondary paths include extra-combat chains (Aurelia, the Warleader plus Genji Glove), damage doublers (Twinflame Tyrant, Bloodletter of Aclazotz), and the occasional alt-win via Hellkite Tyrant. Without Kaalia the deck is a pile of uncastable bombs, making her protection and recastability paramount.
