Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and focuses on Insect tribal synergies combined with graveyard recursion and aristocrats engines. Early turns establish mana through conventional ramp spells and self-mill enablers. Once Zask enters the battlefield around Turn 4 or 5, the graveyard becomes a second hand, allowing you to replay lands and recast Insect creatures repeatedly while milling additional cards whenever an Insect dies. The mid-game builds overwhelming pressure through token multipliers like Scute Swarm, Hornet Queen, and Parallel Lives, paired with devastating overrun anthems like Coat of Arms or Giant Ankheg. Alternatively, the deck can lock the board with Grave Pact and drain opponents using sacrifice outlets and Aatchik, Emerald Radian. The deck's primary vulnerabilities are graveyard hate and mass exile effects, but its high redundancy and independent token generators provide resilience across long games.
