Commander: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black value-reanimation deck built around Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and the demon-tribal sub-theme enabled by Shadowborn Apostle. The primary game plan is to use the Apostles' sacrifice ability to tutor high-impact demons directly onto the battlefield, then leverage Mikaeus's undying trigger to keep those creatures returning. The deck packs a dense suite of board wipes, drain effects, and graveyard recursion to grind out advantage over long games. Secondary win conditions include combat damage from evasive demons (Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, Reaper from the Abyss) and life-drain engines like Exquisite Blood (though it lacks a combo partner). The deck is slow, resilient, and attrition-focused, aiming to out-value opponents through repeated wipes and reanimation loops.
