Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is piloted by Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER, focusing on controlling the battlefield through recurring sacrifice and edict effects while steadily draining opposing life totals. The early turns establish sticky recursive creatures like Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, and Reassembling Skeleton, paired with token generators such as Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia and Ophiomancer. Sephiroth enters on Turn 3, converting sacrifice fodder into extra cards and life swings. By triggering four creature deaths in a single turn using edict creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and Accursed Marauder, Sephiroth transforms into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel and creates a permanent Super Nova emblem. This emblem ensures every subsequent creature death drains an opponent and pads life totals. While the deck lacks stack interaction and artifact removal, its suffocating board control and relentless drain close out games by Turn 8 through attrition, Syr Konrad, the Grim, or Bolas's Citadel.
