Deck overview

This Grixis deck operates as a hybrid midrange control and reanimator strategy helmed by Sauron, Lord of the Rings. The deck spends early turns developing mana with 2-drop artifacts, filtering cards into the graveyard with looting spells and landcycling creatures, and controlling the board with efficient sweepers like Blasphemous Act. During the mid-game, it pivots to reanimating massive threats such as The Balrog of Moria, Cavern-Hoard Dragon, and Inferno Titan. Reaching eight mana enables Sauron to enter the battlefield, simultaneously amassing a 5/5 Orc Army, milling cards, and reanimating another monster directly from the graveyard. The deck closes games through overwhelming combat damage, token swarms from Lord of the Nazgûl, and unblockable strikes enabled by The Black Gate. While resilient to single-target removal thanks to cast triggers and recursion, the deck must navigate vulnerability to graveyard hate and multi-turn combat exposure.
