Deck overview

This Orzhov deck pays life for cards and mana, then converts life gain into opponent loss. Verrak, Warped Sengir doubles any pay-life activation, but the real engine is the Sanguine Bond family - Sanguine Bond, Vito, Enduring Tenacity, and Vizkopa Guildmage - which turn every point of life gained into drain. Secondary paths use big mana from Crypt Ghast and Treasures to fire Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate, or loop Gray Merchant of Asphodel with recursion. Bolas's Citadel, Gwenom, and Aetherflux Reservoir plus Sensei's Divining Top and Tainted Sigil offer a slower combo finish. Verrak is value, not required; Vizkopa Guildmage acts as the hidden commander.
