Deck overview

This is a mono-black aristocrats and life-payment midrange deck helmed by Mortarion, Daemon Primarch. The plan is to lose life on your own terms-via Necropotence, Black Market Connections, phyrexian costs, and draw spells-then convert that life loss into a swarm of menacing 2/2 Astartes at end of turn. Those tokens (plus Bitterblossom, Ophiomancer, and Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder) feed a dense package of death triggers and sacrifice outlets. Primary wins are table-wide drains from Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance, Nadier's Nightblade, Mirkwood Bats, and The Meathook Massacre, amplified by Bloodletter of Aclazotz and Drivnod, Carnage Dominus, or raw closing power from Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Big mana from Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and rituals fuels the X-spells, while Bolas's Citadel and Razaketh, the Foulblooded provide explosive late-game access. Mortarion is a strong token engine but not required for the aristocrats or X-spell plans.
