Format: Commander

Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a classic Mardu angels, demons, and dragons battlecruiser deck built to exploit Kaalia of the Vast's attack trigger. The plan is linear: build mana, land Kaalia, then turn every combat into a discounted threat deployment by cheating the most expensive flying creatures from hand. Aurelia, the Warleader, Desert Were-Worm, and Overpowering Attack add extra combats so Kaalia can trigger multiple times in a single turn, while True Conviction, Warstorm Surge, and Dragon Tempest convert attacks into lethal damage. Master of Cruelties offers a one-shot life-total kill, and Doomsday Excruciator can shrink opponent libraries. The deck has almost no tutoring and zero counterspells, so games are straightforward: ramp, protect Kaalia, attack, and chain flyers until the table dies. It is a mid-speed, commander-dependent deck whose power is concentrated in the 4-mana Cleric.
