Deck overview

This deck is an Esper lifegain control build helmed by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The strategy focuses on establishing early defense through pillowfort enchantments like Propaganda, Blind Obedience, and Authority of the Consuls while leveraging 2-drop mana acceleration. Once Y'shtola enters on Turn 4, every noncreature spell with mana value 3 or greater drains each opponent for 2 damage and heals you for 2, consistently enabling Y'shtola's end-step card draw trigger. The deck controls the board with efficient interaction, including Void Rend, Cyclonic Rift, and combat-prevention spells like Inkshield. The primary route to victory is assembling the infinite combo of Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank, which mills and drains the entire table in a single turn. Backup win conditions include Aetherflux Reservoir bursts, Sheoldred, the Apocalypse attrition, and high-impact drain via Exsanguinate.
