Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir control strategy helmed by Vren, the Relentless that converts opponent creature removal into an overwhelming, self-scaling army of Rat tokens. By utilizing an extensive suite of edicts and board wipes—such as Accursed Marauder, Plaguecrafter, Crippling Fear, and Archfiend of Depravity—the deck repeatedly triggers Vren's end-step ability while exiling opposing threats to permanently deny death triggers and graveyard recursion. As the token swarm grows exponentially in power, cards like Piper of the Swarm grant evasion while Valley Rotcaller and Ayara, First of Locthwain turn token generation into direct life drain. Robust card draw engines like Bident of Thassa and Braids, Arisen Nightmare keep resources flowing, and versatile interaction like Negate, Confound, and Swarmyard protects key pieces on the path to a decisive combat finish on Turn 7.
