Deck overview

This mono-black deck is commanded by Ghoulcaller Gisa, blending Zombie tribal synergy, aristocrats drain, and explosive token generation. The primary strategy uses cheap high-power creatures like Phyrexian Dreadnought and Rotting Regisaur as sacrifice fodder for Gisa, instantly producing swarms of 2/2 Zombie tokens. The deck translates this token army into victory through combat damage with tribal lords like Undead Warchief and Death Baron, or through death-trigger drains from Plague Belcher, Vengeful Dead, and Ayara, First of Locthwain. Dedicated card advantage engines such as Skullclamp, Undead Augur, and Necropotence sustain velocity, while Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx generate substantial mana. Asymmetric attrition pieces like Grave Pact and Noxious Ghoul systematically clear opposing boards while advancing the Zombie army. Independent backup lines utilize Gravecrawler sacrifice loops with Warren Soultrader and Phyrexian Altar to close games even if Gisa is removed.
