Deck overview

This Abzan deck partners Sam, Loyal Attendant and Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit to drive a resilient Food, lifegain, and attrition engine. Sam creates Food at the beginning of each combat and reduces Food activation costs to a single mana, while Frodo leverages the resulting lifegain to advance the Ring temptation and draw cards. The deck ramps early using efficient dorks and rocks before curving into compounding token producers like Academy Manufactor and Peregrin Took. Rather than racing for an instant-speed infinite combo, the deck grinds down opposing life totals using drain engines such as Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, Dina, Soul Steeper, and Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or leverages overwhelming mana and board buffs through Night of the Sweets' Revenge. High-synergy board wipes like The Battle of Bywater protect low-power Halflings while clearing large threats, giving the deck excellent stability in grindy midrange pods.
