Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Avacyn, Angel of Horror as a resilient end-step mass-recursion engine. The primary game plan revolves around assembling explosive big-mana infrastructure (Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth), stocking the graveyard with lethal payloads (Kokusho, the Evening Star, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Archon of Cruelty), and deploying free sacrifice outlets (Phyrexian Altar, Viscera Seer, Ashnod's Altar). Once Avacyn enters the battlefield, sacrificing nontoken creatures on each player's turn drains the entire table repeatedly as Avacyn returns them at every end step. Robust asymmetric control pieces like Archfiend of Depravity and Archfiend of Despair suppress opposing boards and stop life gain, while tutors like Entomb and Emeritus of Woe // Demonic Tutor ensure consistency. Although vulnerable to mass exile and targeted graveyard hate, the deck boasts exceptional card flow, high engine recovery, and overwhelming mid-game inevitability.
