Deck overview

This Queen Marchesa deck executes a classic Mardu Aikido and combat control game plan. It uses early mana rocks to deploy Marchesa on Turn 3 or 4, securing card advantage through the Monarch and deterring attackers with 1/1 deathtouch Assassin tokens. The mid-game introduces defensive taxation and group slug pieces such as Ghostly Prison, Zo-Zu the Punisher, Kambal, Consul of Allocation, and Manabarbs, which systematically tax opponent actions and lower life totals across the table. Mass goad effects like Taunt from the Rampart, Disrupt Decorum, and Kardur, Doomscourge force opponents to direct their largest threats at one another. When an opponent attempts a decisive strike against this deck, instant-speed aikido answers such as Deflecting Palm, Inkshield, Comeuppance, and Mirror Strike turn that lethal combat damage back onto its controller. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through accumulated attrition, unblockable crackbacks, and Sunforger toolbox efficiency.
