Deck overview

This is a classic Azorius draw-control deck helmed by Sokrates, Athenian Teacher, whose tap ability converts combat damage into card draw for both players. The entire 99 is built around one idea: draw as many cards as possible, then leverage that hand size into a win. The primary paths are hand-size alternate win conditions - Triskaidekaphile (13 cards in hand), Twenty-Toed Toad (20 cards), and Approach of the Second Sun - backed by a mill finish via Sphinx's Tutelage and Teferi's Tutelage, plus a Jace, Wielder of Mysteries self-mill line. The deck controls the table with counterspells, spot removal, pillowfort pieces (Propaganda, Norn's Annex, Island Sanctuary), and tax effects (Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, Narset, Parter of Veils). It is a slow, grindy inevitability deck that wins by out-drawing the table rather than by racing.
