Deck overview

This mono-red Commander deck is built around Smaug the Magnificent, focusing on rapid Treasure accumulation and turning those artifacts into lethal burn and combat damage. The game plan develops smoothly on curve by playing basic Mountains and low-cost enablers before deploying Smaug on Turn 4. With built-in haste, Smaug attacks immediately to deal damage equal to your Treasure count. The deck ramps into powerful Dragon payoffs like Ancient Copper Dragon, Goldspan Dragon, and Cavern-Hoard Dragon, alongside multipliers like The Reaver Cleaver and Academy Manufactor. As your Treasure hoard expands, static burn engines like Ingenious Artillerist and Reckless Fireweaver rapidly drain opposing life totals, while extra combat spells like Aggravated Assault close out the table. The list includes strong target-redirection spells to protect key threats, though it remains vulnerable to mass artifact destruction and exile sweepers.
