Deck overview

This deck is a Selesnya Hydra Midrange strategy built around Polukranos Reborn. The game plan focuses on establishing reliable mana development through 2- and 3-mana ramp spells, casting large Hydra threats, and transforming the commander into Polukranos, Engine of Ruin for 6 mana and 2 life. Once transformed, Polukranos provides a formidable 6/6 lifelink and reach body that creates two 3/3 Phyrexian Hydra tokens upon death. The deck applies steady combat pressure, utilizing trample enablers like Garruk's Uprising and Training Regimen alongside scaling beaters like Heroes' Bane and Domesticated Hydra to knock out opponents across multiple turns. A robust package of low-cost instant-speed protection spells—such as Gaea's Gift, Snakeskin Veil, and Royal Treatment—shields core threats from removal. The deck lacks fast combo finishes, nonland tutors, and stax elements, relying instead on resilient midrange combat and efficient artifact and enchantment disruption to win.
