Deck overview

This Golgari deck is commanded by Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and focuses on weaponizing -1/-1 counters into an overwhelming army of 1/1 deathtouch Snake tokens. The early game establishes cheap mana acceleration and lands Hapatra on Turn 2, followed by counter-distributing permanents like Channeler Initiate, Ammit Eternal, and Generous Patron. The deck uses these -1/-1 counters as both asymmetric creature removal and fuel for token generation. Once a wide token board is assembled, the deck accelerates into high gear with draw engines like Skullclamp and Generous Patron. It closes games by converting deathtouch tokens into lethal threats through Beastmaster Ascension, Fynn, the Fangbearer, and Overcome, or by draining life totals using Obelisk Spider, Mirkwood Bats, and Blowfly Infestation loops. While resilient and creature-oppressive, the deck relies on combat and creature survival, making it sensitive to exile board wipes.
