Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis reanimator and attrition strategy commanded by Sauron, Lord of the Rings. It leverages early-game mana rocks, self-discard, and landcycling to place formidable creatures such as The Balrog of Moria, Smaug the Impenetrable, and Troll of Khazad-dûm into the graveyard. Around Turn 5 and 6, the deck transitions into high-impact threats by resolving Living Death, Reanimate, or casting its 8-mana commander, whose cast trigger creates an Orc Army, self-mills, and reanimates a creature even if countered. Asymmetric hate pieces like Leyline of the Void, Notion Thief, and Orcish Bowmasters punish opposing draw and graveyard mechanics, while dragons and amass tokens close out the game over multiple combat phases by Turn 8.
