Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Esper Zombie tribal strategy commanded by Varina, Lich Queen. The game plan focuses on establishing early Zombie board presence to fuel Varina's combat looting ability, rapidly churning through the library while stocking the graveyard with powerful creatures. It leverages Esper colors for premium single-target removal, board wipes, and countermagic to keep the table under control. The primary win condition revolves around assembling an aristocrats sacrifice loop using Phyrexian Altar, Gravecrawler, and a drain payoff such as Corpse Knight, Wayward Servant, or Diregraf Captain. Alternatively, the deck can resolve devastating mass reanimation spells like Living Death, Patriarch's Bidding, or Zombie Apocalypse to assemble a lethal army alongside Gray Merchant of Asphodel for an instant table-wide life drain. Strong card quality, resilient tribal synergies, and redundant tutor access provide consistent mid-game closing velocity.
