Commander: Mortarion, Daemon Primarch

Deck overview

Mortarion, Daemon Primarch leads a mono-black life-payment attrition deck. The primary plan is to turn self-inflicted life loss into a swarm of 2/2 menace tokens, while Bastion of Remembrance, Relic Vial, and Defiant Bloodlord convert deaths and lifegain into opponent life loss. Bolas's Citadel and Ad Nauseam form the explosive engine: a large life-loss burst creates a huge token batch, and sacrificing tokens to the Citadel with Bastion on board drains the table. Exsanguinate and combat are backup finishers. The deck is removal-heavy and can grind, but its 21-land mana base and reliance on a 6-mana commander make it slow and inconsistent.
