Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain and attrition strategy led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. It combines dense low-mana acceleration with passive life-taxing stax pieces to navigate the early turns safely. Once the commander enters the battlefield, it converts incidental lifegain into rapid card advantage by paying life to draw cards whenever life is gained, and tapping to ping all opponents. The deck converts this resource advantage into victory through redundant life-drain permanents like Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, and Marauding Blight-Priest, supplemented by token production from Crested Sunmare and massive life swings from Beacon of Immortality or Exsanguinate. While the deck features robust interaction and excellent instant-speed protection, its lack of tutors and infinite combos means it wins through persistent, multi-turn attrition rather than sudden same-turn table finishes.
