Deck overview

Marchesa, the Black Rose anchors a grindy Grixis engine: attack the life leader, keep +1/+1 counters on creatures, sacrifice them for value, and use her end-step trigger to recur them. The primary path is incremental combat damage backed by Zulaport Cutthroat, Mayhem Devil, and Falkenrath Noble drains; proliferate cards grow the counters. The secondary path is a combo loop with Cauldron of Souls, Sage of Fables, and Viscera Seer plus a drain payoff. Kess acts as a hidden spell-recursion engine, while Nicol Bolas can transform into a planeswalker finisher if the game goes long. The deck is midrange/grindy and wins by attrition after assembling either value or the loop.
