ozai project by jack7079

Format: Commander

Commander: Ozai, the Phoenix King

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "firebending" deck helmed by Ozai, the Phoenix King, built around a single explosive loop: attack with firebending creatures to generate red mana mid-combat, then spend that mana on extra combat steps to chain additional attacks in the same turn. Ozai is the ideal engine - haste means he attacks the turn he lands, firebending 4 produces four red mana on the swing, and his mana-persistence ability (unspent mana becomes red instead of being lost) lets that mana bank into the next combat phase. The deck's primary win is commander damage from a boosted, double-striking Ozai across multiple combats, with Banefire as an uncounterable backup and the The Rise of Sozin // Fire Lord Sozin saga offering a board wipe plus reanimation. Treasure and Clue tokens provide secondary value, while Past in Flames recurs the ritual and extra-combat suite for a second pass.
