Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan midrange strategy commanded by Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa that aims to eliminate opponents through poison counters rather than standard life totals. Early turns focus on accelerating mana and landing aggressive toxic creatures such as Skrelv, Defector Mite, Blightbelly Rat, and Bloated Contaminator. Once opponents receive at least three poison counters, Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa activates Corrupted to steal card advantage directly from opposing libraries. The deck transitions into the midgame by compounding poison counters via global proliferate triggers and large threats like Tyrranax Rex and Vishgraz, the Doomhive. An extensive suite of premium Abzan removal spells keeps threatening opposing engines in check. The deck closes the game around Turn 8 through decisive combat swings backed by Akroma's Will or sweeping the board with White Sun's Twilight.
