Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet spellslinger midrange strategy helmed by Rootha, Mastering the Moment. The primary game plan revolves around exploiting spells with high printed mana values that feature alternative casting costs, delve, or cost reductions—such as Dig Through Time, Treasure Cruise, Blasphemous Act, and Volcanic Salvo. By casting these spells during the precombat main phase, Rootha triggers at the beginning of combat to create massive X/X flying Elemental tokens with haste. The deck amplifies this aerial assault using token cloners and force-multipliers like Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer, Determined Iteration, and Rionya, Fire Dancer, or closes the game with Surge to Victory. Supported by robust card draw and treasure generation from Storm-Kiln Artist and Goldspan Dragon, the deck converts high-cost sorceries and instants into rapid, evasive combat damage.
