Deck overview

This deck is a classic Azorius Stax and Tax Control strategy led by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. The primary objective is to establish an asymmetric mana choke as early as possible. By pairing cost reducers and mana rocks with Grand Arbiter's cost reduction, the deck breaks parity on a wide suite of taxing and rule-setting permanents. Opponents face compounding mana taxes from Trinisphere, God-Pharaoh's Statue, and Thalia, while ETB triggers are silenced by Torpor Orb and Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines. Drannith Magistrate and Grafdigger's Cage further restrict casting from non-hand zones. With opponents throttled, the deck gradually wins through combat using hatebears and token generation from Myrel, Shield of Argive and Oketra's Monument. The list foregoes fast mana and compact infinite combos in favor of maximum stax density and redundant disruption.
