Deck overview

Vivi Ornitier leads a high-velocity Izzet spellslinger and storm strategy that converts cheap noncreature spells into lethal burn damage, commander growth, and explosive mana generation. The deck's primary game plan revolves around deploying Vivi early, using low-cost cantrips and interaction to accumulate +1/+1 counters while pinging each opponent. Once Vivi has established power, its {0} activated ability provides a massive influx of colored mana, fueling extended storm turns. Supported by potent velocity enablers like Archmage Emeritus, Storm-Kiln Artist, and Curiosity, the deck chains through its library to execute decisive same-turn finishes via Aetherflux Reservoir, massive Crackle with Power bursts, or the deterministic Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Curiosity combo. While the deck possesses strong protection tools like Deflecting Swat and Mizzium Skin, its reliance on keeping Vivi or alternate creature engines on the battlefield leaves it open to well-timed spot removal and board wipes before it can initiate its winning storm turn.
