Deck overview

This Sultai Commander deck utilizes Thranduil, the Elvenking to function as a Necrotic Ooze in the command zone, acquiring the activated abilities of all Elf cards in the graveyard. The primary strategy uses dense 1- and 2-CMC mana ramp to accelerate into early graveyard tutors such as Buried Alive and Entomb. By depositing Devoted Druid, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, and Ezuri, Renegade Leader into the graveyard, Thranduil generates infinite mana and arbitrary power across the board as soon as he is active. The deck terminates games on the spot by using Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to fling an arbitrarily large creature at the table or by drawing the entire deck via Staff of Domination. Supported by robust protection cards like Allosaurus Shepherd and Heroic Intervention, the deck operates with high redundancy, retaining strong backup Elfball overrun lines when the graveyard or commander is contested.
