Commander: Smaug, Wicked Worm

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rakdos treasure-dragon deck whose primary plan is to create a critical mass of Treasures, then use that mana for explosive spells and sacrifice payoffs. Smaug, Wicked Worm is the value engine: his ETB makes tapped Treasures from opponent artifacts, and Treasure-cast spells draw cards. Secondary paths are dragon combat and drain effects. The 99 contains two extra Smaugs as hidden lieutenants, with Smaug the Impenetrable forming the cleanest combo with Mayhem Devil and Xorn. The deck is moderately dependent on its commander; without him it still ramps through rocks, Xorn, and Treasure spells, but loses its best burst of tokens and card advantage.
