Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Vampire tribal and lifegain-drain strategy commanded by Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose. The game plan focuses on deploying low-cost Vampires with lifelink and passive drain abilities in the early turns, establishing Vito on turn 3, and converting every point of gained life into direct life loss for opponents. The deck applies consistent pressure through evasive combat and incremental drain effects like Sanctum Seeker, Blood Artist, and Marauding Blight-Priest. In the mid-to-late game, it closes out matches using explosive drain spells such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, a kicked Blood Tribute, or the raw card-advantage engine of Bolas's Citadel. While the deck excels at life-total manipulation and sustains itself through large lifegain swings, it lacks tutors, noncreature permanent removal, and mass protection, leaving it vulnerable to sweepers and artifact or enchantment-based strategies.
