Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Aristocrats and +1/+1 counters engine commanded by Marchesa, the Black Rose. The core strategy revolves around deploying efficient sacrifice outlets and creatures that enter with or generate +1/+1 counters through Dethrone, Modular, Graft, and static buffs. Once Marchesa is on the battlefield, any creature with a +1/+1 counter that dies returns under your control at the beginning of the next end step. By sacrificing creatures on each player's turn, the deck multiplies enters-the-battlefield and death triggers up to four times per turn cycle. Card advantage engines such as Grim Haruspex and River Kelpie rapidly draw through the library to assemble drain engines like Marionette Apprentice and Stalking Vengeance, alongside asymmetric board control from Butcher of Malakir and Ravenous Chupacabra. The deck closes games through relentless aristocratic life drain, theft effects, and unblockable combat damage enabled by Herald of Secret Streams.
