Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Spellslinger Midrange strategy led by Y'shtola, Night's Blessed. The primary game plan revolves around casting noncreature spells with mana value 3 or greater to trigger Y'shtola's passive burn and life gain while simultaneously fueling token-generating creatures. The deck utilizes efficient mana rocks to deploy Y'shtola on Turn 4 and begins triggering spellslinger payoffs on Turn 5. By Turn 7, the deck establishes an oppressive board state using flying Bird, Spirit, and Hero tokens alongside attrition damage from cards like Fandaniel, Telophoroi Ascian and Papalymo Totolymo. It closes out the game on Turn 9 through evasive combat damage and scaling life drain like Exsanguinate or a kicked Rite of Replication. Defensively, the deck is supported by robust spot removal and flexible sweepers, using pillowfort pieces like Propaganda and Authority of the Consuls to manage incoming combat pressure while its engine pulls ahead.
