Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain drain engine commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. It combines early soul-sister creatures and tax effects with redundant blood-drain payoffs to grind down opponent life totals while stabilizing its own life buffer. The deck excels at resource velocity by converting lifegain triggers directly into raw card draw through its commander. It establishes strong early board control using cheap spot exile like Swords to Plowshares and Deadly Rollick, alongside board wipes like Toxic Deluge. Its primary win condition centers on infinite two-card drain loops between Exquisite Blood and effects like Sanguine Bond, Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, or Enduring Tenacity. It also features powerful alternate lines through Aetherflux Reservoir, Bolas's Citadel, and Approach of the Second Sun. The deck operates smoothly with high functional redundancy and resilient mid-game value engines.
