Deck overview

This is a mono-black "self-harm value" deck built around Sahir, Visitor in Darkness's eminence and counter-trigger engine. The core plan is to stack the table with a dense suite of "lose exactly 1 life" and "take exactly 1 damage" effects - Phyrexian Arena, Bitterblossom, Dreadhorde Invasion, Copper Tablet, Plague Spitter, pain lands, and Carnival of Souls - so that Sahir's counter ability fires twice per turn and converts into a free card draw. The deck then grinds advantage through premium mono-black engines (Necropotence, Vilis, Broker of Blood, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled) and closes with a giant Exsanguinate, a devotion-boosted Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or Doctor Doom, Unrivaled's empty-library alternate win.
