Deck overview

This deck is an Izzet tempo-aggro strategy centered on Captain Howler, Sea Scourge. The game plan establishes early, unblockable attackers such as Slither Blade and Invisible Stalker, deploys Captain Howler on Turn 4, and leverages efficient discard spells to grant massive power boosts and combat damage card draw. By filtering through the library with wheels and looting spells like Frantic Search and Windfall, the deck compounds card advantage while applying heavy single-target combat pressure. Secondary burn payoffs like Magmakin Artillerist and clone effects like Sakashima of a Thousand Faces accelerate the clock across the table. For an alternate win condition, the list runs the compact Dualcaster Mage and Twinflame combo, which generates infinite hasty creatures to close the game on the spot. A robust package of free and low-cost interaction, including Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, and Force of Will, protects the engine while keeping mana open for proactive plays.
